At University of Agricultural Sciences, Mandya (UAS Mandya), we embrace the power of knowledge, regional empowerment, and sustainable farming. Rooted in the rich agricultural legacy of the Old Mysuru region, our university aims to be the catalyst for a new era of innovation and growth in agri-education.

Founded as the historic College of Agriculture at V.C. Farm in 1991, UAS Mandya has been nurturing agricultural talent for over three decades—offering B.Sc. (Agri.), diploma, and extension-focused programs to uplift our rural youth.

In early 2025, the Karnataka State Cabinet formally approved the establishment of the new agricultural university at the V.C. Farm campus—marking a long-awaited step toward regional agricultural advancement. Envisioned on the model of Shivamogga University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, UAS Mandya will unite the College of Agriculture (Mandya), College of Agriculture (Hassan), College of Agriculture (Chamarajanagar), College of Forestry (Ponnampet), and the College of Horticultural Sciences (Mysuru) under its banner. Its jurisdiction will cover the districts of Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagar, and Kodagu

Extension Education Unit - Naganahalli, Mysore

The Extension Education Units (EEUs) were started during 1975 based on the success of the Pilot Extension Project started during 1967.

This unit is the nodal agency for conducting field extension programmes. Each unit has a team of subject matter specialists to coordinate and assist the field functionaries at the grassroots level.

The unit motivates the farmers to adopt newly developed farm technologies in an integrated manner, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the net economic returns of farmers from a unit area of land.

Mandate

To evaluate the performance of research findings.
To demonstrate the proven research findings.
To educate extension personnel of the developmental departments, NGOs & input agencies.
To conduct collaborative programmes with the developmental departments and other agencies.

Activities

Conducting field verification trials.
Conducting first stage demonstrations, block demonstrations, frontline demonstrations, micro watersheds, Organic Farming and Integrated Farming System demonstrations, etc.
Conducting demonstrations on dairy, poultry, piggery, fisheries, and sheep rearing activities.
Conducting co-ordinated programmes like animal health camps, home science, and value addition activities with other agencies.
Conducting seminars, training programmes, field days, etc.
Providing farm advisory services.
