Over time, it supports both on-station research and extension, seed-production activities that benefit farmers, especially in rainfed or dryland farming zones.
The mandates and major activities carried out are seed production for important crops such as paddy, ragi, redgram and other pulses. The station also conducts research experiments on various field and horticultural crops — especially focusing on dryland agriculture and horticulture. And it aims to promote agricultural-horticulture and silviculture cropping systems, and to establish itself as a model centre for dryland horticulture farming.
